When it comes to delegating amongst your team, if you're not getting what you want, when you want to, how you want it, there's an issue.
I've been there before. I've had contractors, vendors, or employees who failed or just weren't delivering on all of those three things, especially with direct reports. There's been times where I've not been getting what I needed or what I wanted, by the time that I want to get by in the format that I wanted it, and, I realized that that is a problem with delegation. Delegating is one of the most important things that leaders can do, and it's one of the easiest ways to build and grow an organization. As you move from working in your business, to on your business, if you've got great people on your team, you need to empower them. You need to give them the resources, the ability, the vision, and when you need things as a CEO or as a leader for the division, a group or the organization, or brand that you're running, you need to be able to communicate that clearly to others on your team.
So take a minute and ask yourself: how can you be more specific? How can you put a time around the things that you need be more direct on the format that you need that feedback, and you'll find that the magic happens where people start responding and getting you data, giving you information, giving you results that ultimately move your organization forward.
